What’s a girl to do when she’s got spare time on her hands, time that is rare and quite often sporadic? Well, one must venture out, of course…
Unfortunately I don’t mean out on the water, although that would be incredible.
I’ve been spending a lot of my time at the fudge shops, gathering new ideas, implementing new ideas, keeping to the old routines, learning more about the ins and outs of running a business… it’s starting to get into that busy time of year, so I thought I’d better start posting some pictures! Anyway, I thought I would brighten up some of our tools at work by bringing in some copper measuring cups and spoons to measure out our front-end ingredients, ie dried cherries, ground pecans, and chocolate chips:
I think one of our popular up-and-comers in terms of flavors has been sea salt caramel this year, and it’s rare for us to end a day with any left for sale. We make it daily!
This next one’s from my parents’ front yard. They have the most beautiful wild roses that smell simply amazing. Although lilac season is over, it’s time for the wild roses to bloom:
As I had mentioned at the beginning, I do try to venture out and away from work on my day off. Not too long ago I decided to see Arch Rock again, and after not visiting it since this past winter, I was looking forward to seeing the brighter side of the arch.
Arch Rock seems so beautiful when seen in the cold of winter, frozen in some kind of time that’s only meant for you. It’s peaceful, and the scene of the lake just beyond the arch makes it even more peaceful. But in the summer, if you happen to visit it when it isn’t too congested with visitors, it’s an amazing sight to see! I wasn’t expecting so much greenery around. That really made it pop!
On the way back down the stairs to my bike, I happened to notice a freight boat in the distance. Thank goodness I took my camera with the extra zoom! I was able to capture a shot:
After my day off escapades, it was back to work once again. My dad likes to attend to his stores at least once a day, and on days when we’ve got everything covered… which is almost every day… he just sits back, relaxes, and enjoys the summer.
Let me leave you with just one more picture of candy from my store, some crunchy goodness I like to call Peco Flake:
Until next time…
