A View From My Window

This time in quarantine has taken a little bit of a toll on me… it’s difficult to feel creative while confined to one space. That being said, most of my time, when I’m not working on lessons for my classes, is being spent reading new books, finding new books to read (yes, this activity takes up a good part of my day), watching live streaming music from musicians, and taking photos through my window. Taking photos is not the easiest thing to do (I’m now dubbing it, “Window Photography”) but having so many clear days in the past couple of weeks has made it easier to capture a clear view outside my window.

One very welcome change outside my window has been the sprouting up of springtime flowers, more specifically the yellow daffodils growing in the garden, plus a few other flowers here and there…

When I work from home, I sit at a second floor window looking out towards Lake Huron, and it’s here where I can enjoy the view of crashing waves and every once in awhile see a bird fly by.

I do tend to venture outside one time a week, only to be able to check my mail. I’m happy to say that my online shopping habits have significantly decreased, but I still crave some snail mail! I’ve taken up penpal writing again to pass the time and keep in touch with some of my friends who are further away. On my last trip out I decided to make one short stop by Windermere Park, on a day with lots of wind and lots of large waves. It was interesting to see that the water had pushed more rocks back to shore, therefore covering up the roots of the tree in what seems to be a little bit of success.

One last note… several years ago, I used to do an activity called “Postcards to Mackinac,” and I featured several postcards that were sent to me. I’d like to do something similar, but this time offer mail from me to you! I’m a big fan of snail mail, paper crafts and scrapbooking, and would like to share a little happy in your mailbox. If you would like to receive a letter in the mail from me, please email your mailing address to thecopperlake@gmail.com.

Until next time,

Heather
